Participation in an overview class on dementia, e.g., "Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer's: The Basics," "Getting Started" or "Orientation to Early Alzheimer's," or a monthly Alzheimer’s Association Support Group is required before taking this class.
Caring for someone with Alzheimer's is a specialty requiring specific skills that contribute to the well being of both the caregiver and the person with the disease. This 12-hour (6 week) course trains family caregivers in how to assess the abilities of a person with dementia, and feel more confident in the skills of caregiving. Attendance at all classes is required. Please register online. Class dates: 8/17, 8/24, 8/31, 9/7, 9/14, 9/21
